In a whirlwind narrative of vanity and conceit, Can't Lose You is the story of two characters who come from opposite worlds but are united by the most unlikely of circumstances: Yooi is a desperate girl working day and night to earn pennies in hopes of one day paying off her father's debts and reuniting their family.

Lida comes from privilege and excess, the heiress to an unbelievable fortune and a marriage match she cannot wait to consummate. But when the two girls meet and discover the one thing they have in common is their identical faces their lives take an unexpected turn. As Yooi accepts the irresistible offer of becoming Lida's double, she finds herself in over her head, being chased by assassins and falling head over heels for Lida's fiancé. Meanwhile, Lida is completely unaware of the shocking revelation awaiting her in this fast-paced tale of redemption and revenge.

A revelation of social boundaries and emotional limitlessness, this story will have your heart beating faster with every turn of the page.
YOOI KANG
Yooi is an independent girl who takes care of herself by working various side jobs. Her mother passes away when she is a little girl, and her father is on the run from his debtors, or so she thinks. She accepts Lida's proposal to play her double to pay off her father debts.

LIDA YOO
The sole heiress to the Yoorim Group, Lida is known to be a stuck-up and spoiled brat. She takes advantage of Yooi's identical face and pays her to play her double to escape her boring routine and dangerous situations.

GAON GIL
Gaon is the real brain behind his father, Senator Gil. He is cold and conceited, but a remarkable genius with a strong desire for power. Soon after he rejects Lida's marriage proposal, he unknowingly falls head over heels for Lida's twin double, Yooi.

From the Author
I am thrilled to meet a new world of readers, yet I feel a little shy, too...
Haha. I hope you enjoy as much as possible the brief trip you will be taking to the novel world of Cant Lose You. I thought I had done quite a bit of traveling, but I actually have not been to America. To have the book land in the U.S. before its author, I suppose that is one of the fun things of being an author. Anyhow, I will be deeply moved to see this book at bookstores when I visit America in the near future.

Well, I welcome you to my world. On with your trip~

This is both romance and drama. Like 0/6 it involves a high
schooler on their own. This time it is a girl, Yooi, who rents a
room in exchange for working in a store. Her mother is dead and
dad is in debt. She has a plan to save anything she can until his
debt is paid. But soon her life will turn upside down. She
crashes into Lida, the daughter of an industrial executive and
heiress to a huge fortune. They notice how much alike they look,
it is uncanny. Later Lida decides to hire Yooi to act as her
double at various company functions she would rather not attend.
The story is complicated by Lida's fiancee, Gaon Gil, another
wealthy child who is not so keen on arranged marriages. He sees
Lida as a pretty doll who gets whatever she wants, but he wants
love. By chance he sees Yooi and, mistaking her for Lida tells her
off and then impulsively steals a passionate kiss. The effect is
not what either expected.

In her role as Lida's double, Yooi is made up and given a wig so
no one can tell the difference. What she does not know is that
there have been threats on Lida's life. At the dedication of a
children's home the would be assassin strikes and the ordeal
brings Yooi and Gaon even closer, though he believes she is Lida.
Gaon has issues with his own family that may come into play. We
wonder how he will feel if he learns who is playing the role of
his fiancee. Who is out to kill Lida and what is her plan - does
she want Yooi to get killed? It is a good story both for the
drama and the romance. The artist uses the big eye style often
seen in Manga but reserves the cartoony bits to very few. It all
works and is a decent package. I have not read a bad book yet
from NETCOMICS. This one is one of the better ones.

The Prince and the Pauper (or Dave, for the new generation) gets a 21st-century soap-opera twist in this new Korean series. Yooi Kang is a flat-broke freshman who's just moved into a new school where she's met Lida Yoo, her spoiled, rich doppelgänger. Lida is betrothed to androgynous bad-boy and corporate heir Gaon Gil. Yooi and Lida get along about as well as Krystle and Alexis Carrington, until Lida realizes she can pay Yooi to act as her double. Lida tells Yooi the doubling is just for "boring parties" and decides not to mention the death threats she's been receiving. Meanwhile, Gil starts falling for the new, less pretentious Lida who's been showing up to company events. Too bad she's really Yooi. Confused? It's all part of the fun. Wann keeps enough plot twists coming to make volume one a satisfying read, without ever piling on more than her audience can handle. And she makes sure the art stays clear as well. The layouts are clean and well composed, and she has a flair for dramatic poses that help move the story along. Her occasional forays into mad, chibi-strewn frenzies fit right into the over-the-top emotional beats. This
manga is sure to appeal to the Gossip Girl crowd. (Mar.)
